Yesterday, over a classy chinese dinner with my boyfriend (that I paid for), he brought up an interesting and just plain ignorant thing he had heard on the news. Apparently, a study was done, and men are smarter than women. Are you kidding me? I wanted to reach over and smack him, really freakin' hard. Even if he did see that on the news, why would he bring it up to me, his WOMAN GIRLFRIEND? Is he looking for a fight? I'm not an intense, psycho feminist, but I'm an opinionated and strong chick. So when you come at me with stuff like that, what do you expect me to say? Gee, maybe you're right, maybe men are smarter than us...Puh-lease! So I dive into this conversation head first, naturally. Men and women are so different, how could a study like that be fair, or even accurate? If men are so much smarter, why is our country (ran by A MAN) in shambles? How come women have become more and more powerful in the past 20 years? If we are so less intelligent, then how are we capable of running multi-million dollar companies, hold positions in the government, oh yeah and I forgot-BEING A MOM! I'd like to see a man tackle all the duties a single mom with a full time job has to do. I am so sick of men even thinking they are smarter than women, and then having the media boast that is sickening!
Just then we started discussing our grades in high school. Turns out I am dating a C with the occassional D student...and me? I was on the honor roll all 4 years. So who is smarter in this situation, here? I maintain, women and men are intelligent about different things. There is no way we could even compare our mental abilities! Grrr!!
