Now....and Then

Do you ever wish you were born in a different decade? I sure do.
For instance, last night I flipped to 'Now and Then' on tv and things just seemed simpler back then. More innocent. Granted, there's always filth and evil in the world, but back then kids had to make their own fun, which is why I value my childhood so much. We didn't have the internet to entertain us and seclude us from the world(although oddly enough most of us use it to stay connected) instead, we called up our friends and invented games in the swimming pool to play or waited till dark to play ghost in the graveyard. I know little kids who carry around ipods and cell phones now, and even have e-mail accounts. Please someone tell me, what five year old kid is gonna use e-mail?!?!? Who on earth are they going to write? If you wanna call Bobby just call Bobby...I mean you've got that schnazzy cell now don't cha?

In 'Now and Then' they were playing in the lake and eating at those brightly colored restaurants that served homemade pies and what not. They just seemed so much more excited and content back then. I mean, maybe I've being ignorant and totally naive here, but I feel like we're just more jaded these days. Our focus has shifted to all this technological crap and we are so obsessed with the word, "celebrity" (coughs, um yeah clearly I fall into this category) that we just don't appreciate the small things anymore.
-I want a sock-hop, not some dude grinding his bits up my butt.
-How bout a cute poodle skirt..I can wear that...instead of these cut off shorts that are shorter than my pinky.
-And how about some dern gentlemen, huh? And where have all the morals gone girls? Every year in highschool we'd watch the incoming freshman just get sluttier and sluttier. It's sad.

I know it's just a movie, and I know we can't go back.
I just wish we could.

Movies are so much better than real life sometimes sigh,
J
